Warning About the Ministry of Mr. Michael Pearl and No Greater Joy Ministries
Because there is a connection between what we believe and how we live, we must receive "good doctrine" (I Timothy 4:6), because it nourishes us spiritually. Stress upon "sound doctrine" is a theme of the pastoral epistles (I Timothy 1:10, II Timothy 4:3, Titus 1:9, Titus 2:1). The word sound means healthy or wholesome. We must feed on doctrine that is healthy and wholesome to our souls. Unsound doctrine is not healthy for, or wholesome to our souls. The pastor and preacher has the responsibility to not only proclaim sound doctrine in feeding the flock of God, but he is also to overturn the wrong teachings of false teachers (Titus 1:9; Convince means to reprove or refute), and hence protect the flock of God (Acts 20:28-31).
Doctrinal error must be rejected, and we must separate from the proponents of that error (Romans 16:17, Titus 1:10-14). Without correct doctrine, error fills the vacuum and brings with it damaging effects in every day life. It is critical that we cling to sound doctrine, for without it we truly have a foundation of sand (Matthew 7:24-27). The Scriptural application would be to separate from, rather than use, the materials of Michael Pearl and the No Greater Joy ministry.
Warning About the Ministry of Harold Camping and Family Radio
Harold Camping is a false prophet based out of Oakland, California. Through his materials and radio broadcasts, he has declared that "Judgment Day" is coming on May 21, 2011, followed by "The End of the World" on October 21, 2011. It is important to recall the words of Jesus from Matthew 24:36; "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only."
Regarding false prophets, the Word of God states, "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves." It is vital for believers to consider that blessed hope of our Savior calling us to our home in Heaven, but we must make sure that we stay within the bounds of Scripture. So instead of naming dates, let us commit ourselves to living purely, as the Lord could return any day, any moment.
